We may have had too much Egg Nog at today’s Holiday Lunch party but we decided to look at the evolution of the Cats campaign and then we stopped. And then we just wanted to tell this story …
CATS – New Trailer from Daily Trailer! on Vimeo. Cats … oh Cats …
And I know some of you can relate, especially after seeing 2nd Season of Mrs. Maisel, … you know how summer is in the North Eastern part of the United States. Summer is a time that we leave our sweltering cities and head to the mountains .. like the Catskills or the Berkshires or .. the Poconos. And guess what the theater talent does too to do fun things like summer stock at Tanglewood in the Berkshires, or Shakespeare on Hudson at Boscobel. But then, we lived in Northwestern NJ and we had Summer Stock in the … Poconos.
So it was July and my birthday and my father got the idea that he could relate to me on my birthday and take me to the theater, he knew I liked ‘artsy things’ and ‘theater’ … just in my case it was movie theaters! Big difference Dad! But any time to spend with Dad was worth it …
Mind you, our house was 59 miles from New York City but my father decided Summer Stock in the Poconos of ‘Cats’ was a good idea or … dare I say it, he thought it was a better idea then the very close bright lights of the one and only Broadway, yes, the one here in New York City as there would be no traffic. As you can imagine, summer stock of Cats in the Poconos, didn’t end well for anyone, especially the performers and Andrew Lloyd Webber and T.S. Eliot probably wished the agents hadn’t granted a license to Pocono Summer Stock Performers.
Anyhow, when I saw this, I thought maybe the ol’ summer stock gang had gotten back together again … one last time. Cats .. oh Cats, how many times will our paths cross?

That’s all I will say. It speaks for itself.
Maybe someday in the future it will have its own Rocky Horror like following. A filmmaker can dream and hold out hope. Good Luck! Love, M1 for DT!
