We told you … ’tis the season! My brother sent this little recco our way … Mel Gibson, Walton Goggins, and Marianne Jean-Baptiste in Fatman. Now mind you, you have to be in the mood for this type of film.
Someone wrote in the comments … ‘the Christmas movie 2020 deserves’. And it looks like it! My Brother has very very strange taste in movies but he has a type – let’s just say that.
Mel Gibson and Walton Goggins squaring off is quite a great concept. And with Danny McBride as an executive producer, YOU KNOW there are going to be some moments where you spit out your food or drink. SO be careful. That man is super funny in his timing and execution.
Oh wow that is right, Danny and Walton were in Vice Principals on HBO all those years ago. The show was funny but got to be too much for me. Too much violence and destruction and Danny McBride never caught a break. Here is that trailer:
Available always on HBOMax – it’s funny but sometimes too much – it’s like when you eat too much candy and you feel sick. Or like the peppermint ice cream pint! Dark comedy then – that’s how I think they would describe it.
But my most favorite of favorites with Walton Goggins and what put him on the map for me is JUSTIFIED. Oh man, what a great series! The first season is just ok.
It was episodic for that first season, meaning each show is brought to fruition in a single show time frame but after that first season when the story arcs went seasonal, that is when it hit its stride. And with seasonal story arcs, the writers got to show what they are made of. They definitely have some Southern roots. They nailed Harlen county. So for my brother:
The Justified Trailer. I even bought the title song on I-tunes! FX really made an amazing show here! Start it tonight and binge all six seasons!! Super amazing or wait to next week when you have a little more time. Like watch Fatman tonight with the family and then Justified.
And in the immortal words of the show to my brother I say … “we dug coal together”.
Love to you all on this cold Friday night in NYC. The last Friday before the big Christmas day! Love, M1 for DailyTrailer!
