Every Dr. Martin Luther King Day, I share this incredible trailer – it’s an absolute winner! The movie itself is a triumph too. If you haven’t had the chance to watch it yet, I highly recommend renting it and gathering as many people as possible for a group viewing. Trust me, it’s that good.
Additionally, I strongly encourage a visit to Montgomery, Alabama (and Selma, AL) and a stop at Dexter Baptist Church. Taking the tour is a fantastic experience, as the people there are incredibly passionate about Dr. King and the civil rights movement. It’s an excursion that the whole family will cherish, as there’s so much to see and learn in Montgomery. Personally, I have a deep appreciation for history and the joy of learning, which is precisely why I was captivated by this movie. It brought that pivotal moment to life for me. Prior to watching it, it was just a distant event in the timeline, but thanks to Ava DuVernay’s brilliant storytelling, I felt fully immersed in it. I’m truly grateful to her for that.
And that is the remarkable power of film …. TO TEACH!!! Top notch directing, top notch editing and AMAZING choice of music. Let freedom ring!
Signing off from the cold snowy South!
